2014 GUNPLA BUILDERS WORLD CUP (GBWC)

Just last May was the 2014 Gundam Model Kit Contest, I had wanted to join but I felt I was too new to the hobby to participate in the contest. If I were to join a Gundam contest, I  want to be atleast competitive enough to win an award :) (Yeah that's the goal!).

Now, Bankee (authorized distributor of Gundam kits here in the Philippines) just released the mechanics of a new competition: 2014 Gunpla Builders World Cup (GBWC).  This is a yearly competition that started in 2011. I was thinking about joining this one but, I can't because of my busy schedule this year. And it got even more hectic (for the better) when my dad got back from the US and brought home something awesome! What it is...is for another post! :) I'm still trying to figure it out so for now, let's leave it as a mystery, hehe!

But, really if I felt I couldn't compete with a national event, how much more for an international one, right? That customized Gundam Nu on the picture was done by the 2013 GBWC Champion. It looks amazing! I don't believe I can build one like that yet. But maybe on the next nationals, I'll be ready :)

I haven't been able to really post anything lately. I've put blogging on hold while I wait for my paints to arrive. It's been 4 weeks! Not being in Manila makes finding the color of paint, you need, really hard and while there are websites that sell and ship the hobby paints, supplies on the site are still very limited. I have to wait for my monthly visit to Manila so I can go to the different stores and get whatever they have. My last visit was disappointing, the stores didn't have the colors I needed for my B-17 kit. Painting other kits are going to be on hold till I paint the B-17. I've been to wanting to build and paint it for a while now, and I don't want to push it to next time.

But I have not stopped building! I have been snap building two gundam kits to fuel my eagerness to build plastic models. You may have noticed that my Deathscythe lacks its weapon, sadly, I broke it while playing with my son. He got too excited swinging it around that it hit another toy and broke it into two. I've tried to glue it back together but it kept on falling apart. Decided to just ask for a replacement from Bandai, hopefully they will accommodate me. No decals on any of the kits yet, I plan on painting them so I'll reserve the decals till then.

Sale at the toy store! I was able to get a good discount so I bought Sei Iori's custom Gundam. I'll add this to the queue and hopefully work on this before June. Update you guys soon!

A New Beginning!

I've always wanted to build model kits especially Sci-Fi kits since I was a kid. My dad used to build and fly a lot of RC Aircrafts in the 80s. He built them entirely too, from the ribs of the wing to wrapping the entire aircraft. I used to help him build it too. But I was always just an assistant. I just helped glue some parts together and my favorite part but never got to do it myself...ironing the wrap. I thought that was the most awesome part in building the plane, watching the wrap slowly shrink into a perfect fit each time the iron passed by!

Anyways fast forward, I never got into the hobby because I was a poor pilot (crashed a training glider!) and just looking the parts to assemble was just intimidating!

Just look at how many parts you needed to put together to make your planes back then! Repairs were horrifying too! Build it and then crash it on the weekend, just wasn't inviting to an 8-year old.

I stumbled into this hobby when I watched "Gundam Build Fighters". It reminded of how I loved building the airplanes with my dad. So on a weekend, I decided to buy a Gundam kit (just the Advance Grade) for my son :). We built it together and I really enjoyed it. Hopefully my son did too but he's 3 so everything is always exciting for him! Hehe!
